Animal Protection League of Indiana
In partnership with the City of Anderson since 2011, APL manages the local animal shelter and runs adoption, foster, and volunteer programs. Serving central Indiana with a mission to make second chances possible.
Indianapolis Animal Care Services
Marion County's municipal animal shelter, operated by the City of Indianapolis. Handles stray intake, lost & found pets, adoptions, and community cat programs. Walk-in adoptions welcome.
Southside Animal Shelter
Founded in 1994 on Indy's south side, Rosie's Southside Animal Shelter rescues at-risk dogs and cats and nurtures them back to health for loving homes. Receives no government funding — supported entirely by donations and adoption fees.
Almost Home Humane Society
Serving Hamilton County with adoption, foster, and community cat programs. Regular adoption events in Westfield and Noblesville.
Nine Lives Cat Café
Indy's only cat café — enjoy coffee while spending time with adoptable cats in partnership with IndyHumane. Walk-ins and reservations welcome.

Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic Indiana
High-quality, low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and vaccines for dogs, cats, and feral cats at Brownsburg and Noblesville locations. Also offers a transport program serving Marion County and 30+ Indiana counties. Walk-in vaccine clinic Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 2:30–5 PM and Sat 8 AM–noon.

Affordable veterinary surgical center opened in 2024, specializing in soft tissue, orthopedic, emergency, and reproductive surgeries for dogs and cats. Accepts referrals from primary vets. Open Mon–Thu 7 AM–5 PM.

Eagle Creek Park Dog Beach
One of Indy's most popular off-leash areas with a dedicated dog beach on the reservoir. Dogs must have current tags and vaccinations. Seasonal hours apply.
Broad Ripple Dog Park
Fenced off-leash park along the White River with separate areas for large and small dogs. Free to use; annual permit required for Indianapolis residents.
Monon Trail
16-mile paved trail running from Broad Ripple to downtown and beyond. Leashed dogs welcome the entire length. Connects to multiple parks and neighborhoods.
Holliday Park
Beautiful 94-acre nature park with wooded trails, a nature center, and a dog-friendly off-leash area. Leashed dogs welcome on all trails.
Three Dog Bakery — Broad Ripple
Dog-friendly bakery and boutique with fresh-baked treats, toys, and accessories. Dogs welcome inside the store. A Broad Ripple neighborhood staple.
Garfield Park & Conservatory
Historic south-side park with walking paths, a sunken garden, and a free conservatory. Leashed dogs welcome throughout the grounds.

IndyHumane Community Programs
Offers a pet food pantry, low-cost microchipping events, and community cat trap-neuter-return (TNR) support for Marion County residents. Call ahead for current program availability.
Indy Pets Alive
Coalition working to reduce euthanasia rates in Marion County through foster recruitment, transport, and community engagement. Connects volunteers with shelters across the city.
FACE Pet Food Pantry
Free pet food distribution for income-qualifying Indianapolis families. Helps keep pets in their homes during financial hardship. Contact FACE clinic for distribution schedule.
Indy Lost Pet Alert
Uses social media to rapidly spread the word about lost and found pets across Indianapolis. Submit a lost or found report to alert the community and prevent overcrowding at local shelters.
Indy Neighborhood Cats
Improves the quality of life for unowned neighborhood cats through trap-neuter-return (TNR), a winter shelter program, cat food pantry support in partnership with FIDO, and community education. Pickup location for winter shelters at the FIDO warehouse.
Indy Dog Advocates
Raises awareness of Indianapolis's canine overpopulation crisis and helps low-income residents pay for spay/neuter surgeries through the Bucks for Balls program — reducing costs by 60% or more.
Pet Friendly Services of Indiana
Indiana's only statewide animal welfare organization dedicated to ending euthanasia through spay/neuter. Runs the SNAP assistance program, mobile clinic, community cat grants, and the Pet Friendly license plate program.
Friends of Indy Animals
Funds life-saving programs at Indianapolis Animal Care Services. Invests in creative solutions to keep pets in loving homes, care for homeless animals, and support adopters with resources.
FIDO Indy
Animal welfare nonprofit improving the lives of dogs in Indianapolis — especially those living chained or penned. Programs include outreach home visits, fence builds, spay/neuter assistance, and a pet food pantry.
Hoosier Fix
Marion County 501(c)(3) providing free or reduced-cost spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations for dog and cat owners. Founded in 2020 and has helped over 2,500 pets get fixed.
Peaceful Souls Animal Rescue
Dedicated to helping Indianapolis residents recover lost animals and find guidance for found pets. All recovery services are completely free of charge. Partners with local rescues to ensure non-owned animals are cared for.
Eastside Pawject
East Indianapolis nonprofit keeping pets in their homes through 24/7 community pet food pantry boxes, $5 microchipping, microchip scanning stations, and connections to affordable spay/neuter and vaccines. Founded 2025.
CICOA Aging & In-Home Solutions
Central Indiana's area agency on aging — helps older adults and people with disabilities keep their pets through caregiver support, home modifications, meals, and connections to community resources.
Silver Bell Pet Cremation
Affordable pet cremation serving Indianapolis and central Indiana — from hamsters to horses. Main location in Quincy with free pickup of small animals within 30 miles. Indianapolis drop-off available Fridays 2–5 PM at Rhodius Public Park. Also offers microchip scanning for found or deceased strays.
SOAR Initiative
Supports vulnerable individuals and their pets through crisis and transition. Provides case management, temporary pet fostering, access to veterinary care, shelter relief, and pet retention assistance. Has helped 6,000+ people and fostered 1,500+ pets since 2014.
The Stable Pet Food Pantry
Free pet food pantry at Church of the Nativity-Episcopal, open the second Saturday of every month, 10 AM–12:30 PM. Provides dry dog food, dry cat food, and kitty litter at no charge. A vet tech is also on-site for nail clipping, ear cleaning, and gland expression.
